Spring Into Books – May 2013

The Junior Board is currently hosting a “Spring Into Books” Book Drive benefiting children aged 0-5 in FSW’s Head Start Program. FSW’s Head Start is part of a federal program that was created in 1965 to increase the school readiness of young children in low-income families up to age 5.  They are seeking new and gently used children’s books. Spanish language book
donations are a plus.

Books can be dropped off at one of the following locations:

  • White Plains Office: One Summit Ave, White Plains, NY 10606
  • Port Chester office: One Gateway Plaza, 4th fl, Port Chester, NY 10573
  • Bronxville Women’s Club: 135 Midland Ave, Bronxville, NY 10708

Building a Playground at Rochambeau School in White Plains – June 27

FSW’s Head Start/Universal Pre-Kindergarten program has been selected to be the recipient of a KaBOOM! community playground.  KaBOOM! is a national non-profit dedicated to saving play for America’s children.  With KaBOOM!’s expertise, funding provided by our partner Morgan Stanley, and a grant from the Junior Board, a brand new playground will be built at the Rochambeau School in White Plains where several of FSW’s Head Start and UPK classrooms are housed.   We are looking for volunteers to participate on Build Day and to donate tools, refreshments, paper goods, and other essential items to facilitate the building project.  If you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, please contact Gerry Goldberg at 914-305-6834 or ggoldberg@fsw.org.  For details, click here.
