AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.

Each year, AmeriCorps offers 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups. Whether your service makes a community safer, gives a child a second chance, or helps protect the environment, you’ll be getting things done through AmeriCorps!

AmeriCorps is a federally funded community service program in which participants commit to one year of intensive service to meet critical community needs such as educational support of children.

FSW’s AmeriCorps program, “Future Leaders” is focused in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle,  Port Chester, White Plains, and Yonkers.  Our members serve on a full time (1700 hours/year) or part-time basis (900 hours/year) and receive a bimonthly stipend.  Upon successful completion of their service hours, members are awarded an educational grant that can be applied to college tuition or loans.  In addition to their service, members receive educational, cultural and technical training and support.

You  must be a US citizen or legal resident as well as a high school graduate or have a GED.
