The Early Step Forward Program provides mental health services to very young children (ages birth to five) and their families in two Port Chester childcare centers that include both Head Start and daycare classrooms. FSW recognizes that a child’s positive social and emotional development is critical to school readiness. The ESF staff work closely with the childcare staff and parents in identifying and helping children with challenging behaviors in order to improve the quality of their educational
experience. The Early Step Forward Program includes social emotional screenings, observation, individual and group work, parent groups, staff training, and referral to community services.
ESF is a Westchester County funding initiative.
