Family Program

The Family Program ensures FSW staff an opportunity to work with the entire family of individuals who receive services in the mental health clinic or other FSW programs. This allows us to take a more holistic approach to the family relationship, model healthy activities and enables us to observe the individual as they apply new practices they’ve learned. FSW offers a series of workshops in our Yonkers office for families (including the men, wives/significant others and children) as well as fun and educational excursions. The workshops and excursions are facilitated by FSW staff, on occasion we invite guest presenters to speak to our families. Workshop topics include “re-entry” to community/family, effective communication skills, family bonding exercises and anger management strategies. As appropriate, adults and children are divided into separate groups to discuss topics such as peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, following rules and setting limits, and family values. Family excursions include, but are not limited to trips to aquariums, zoos, apple picking.
