Elder Abuse Prevention Program

FSW’s Elder Abuse Prevention Program is designed to improve the safety and well-being of older adults living in Westchester County who are at risk of abuse by family members.  Our Elder Abuse Prevention Coordinator provides both direct supportive services to older adults who are at risk of abuse and works with groups such as the Westchester County Protective Services for Adults (PSA) to train members of the community at senior centers, faith-based organizations and elsewhere to identify seniors who are at risk and empower seniors to take steps to improve their safety.  The Coordinator reaches out to seniors isolated in the community who have been identified, assesses them for safety, engages them and offers support and case management, counseling and other services in conjunction with PSA and any other resource, to reduce the risk of abuse and, as needed, help them develop and implement a plan for safety.
