FSW Proud to Sponsor Stand Up for Women Veterans Event

FSW’s Veterans Support Program funders Patricia Lanza (left) and Naomi Kaplan (right) join Representative Nita Lowey at the Stand Up for Women Veterans event, which was held on June 7th at Westchester Community College.  Over 100 veterans joined us for this free event designed to help women vets overcome many of the issues they face upon returning home from military service, such as homelessness, joblessness and emotional difficulties.  The women received free employment counseling, health screenings, and legal services, and participated in networking events, writing workshops and discussion groups.  We are so grateful to the many sponsors of this wonderful event including L.I.V.E.:  Lanza Family Investment in Veterans Empowerment, Stop & Shop, JPMorgan Chase, Con Edison, Panera Bread, Westchester Community College and the Women’s Research and Education Fund.  Additional co-sponsors included:  Legal Services of Hudson Valley, Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, ECAD, Common Ground Service Women’s Action Network, Hope for the Warriors Business Council of Westchester, Veterans Administration, Wounded Warrior Project, Hope for the Warriors, Junior League of Central Westchester, Westchester County Veterans Agency, Women’s Enterprise Development Center, YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester, Westchester/Putnam One-Stop Employment, and Women’s Veterans Association of the Hudson Valley.
