Big Brothers Big Sisters Offers Free Home Pickup of Clothing, Furniture

PORT CHESTER, NY – Family Services of Westchester announced that it was restarting free home pickup of clothing, housewares, small appliances, furniture and toys through its Big Brothers Big Sisters program. From Pelham to Peekskill, Bronxville to Buchanan, the Big Brothers Big Sisters trucks will travel throughout the county for scheduled pickups in 24 zones that cover 61 towns. Residents can call the toll-free number 1-877-399-2570 to arrange for free home pickup of donated household items. To schedule a pick-up online go to www.bbbsdonate.org. There are also drop-off bins will placed throughout Westchester.

“We are delighted to offer this important free service to the residents of Westchester,” says Susan B. Wayne, president and CEO of Family Services of Westchester. “For more than 50 years our Big Brothers Big Sisters program has been providing mentors to children throughout Westchester so those who donate clothing and furniture can feel good about supporting such a worthwhile program, just in time for their spring cleaning efforts,” adds Wayne.

Founded in 1954, Family Services of Westchester runs more than 50 mental health and social service programs that benefit an estimated 30,000 individuals each year. Headquartered in Port Chester, the non-profit has an annual budget of $20 million, six locations throughout the county and 450 employees.
