KaBOOM! Community Playground Build Day-June 27, 2013

FSW’s Head Start/Universal Pre-Kindergarten program has been selected to be the recipient of a KaBOOM! community playground.  KaBOOM! is a national non-profit dedicated to saving play for America’s children.  With KaBOOM!’s expertise, funding provided by our partner Morgan Stanley, a special grant from the Junior Board of FSW, as well as community support, a brand new playground will be built at the Rochambeau School in White Plains where several of FSW’s Head Start and UPK classrooms are housed.  This is a wonderful opportunity not only for FSW but for the entire community, which will have access to the playground all year round.  We have already held “Design Day,” at which children, community members, Morgan Stanley employees, the KaBOOM! project manager,  and FSW staff joined together to design their dream playground.   Build day is scheduled for June 27th.  While Morgan Stanley will generously provide the bulk of the funding for this project, FSW is responsible for raising $8,500 in matching funds.  Thanks to a generous grant from the Junior Board of FSW and the support of several private donors, we have already raised over $4,000 toward this goal.  We are now reaching out to the wider community to help us raise the remaining funds.  We are also looking for volunteers to participate on Build Day and to donate tools, refreshments, paper goods, and other essential items to facilitate the building project.  If you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, please contact Gerry Goldberg at 914-305-6834 or ggoldberg@fsw.org.  To make a secure online donation, please click here
