Volunteer Tutors Needed for Westchester Children

High school student Connor Brodbeck providing online algebra tutoring to one of our teens struggling with homeschooling.

We have a waiting list of local school-age children in need of virtual tutoring. These are children that are struggling with academics and do not have the luxury of hiring a tutor.  There is an achievement gap that leaves our at-risk students with many academic challenges.
The pandemic is taking a toll on vulnerable students and their learning because of schooling disruptions. Tutors are a vital way to lift student achievement and help combat the “slide” in learning that children are experiencing – now known as the “COVID slide.”
Volunteers can be high school-aged or adult, and will be matched with students based on their interest and areas of expertise. Scheduling is flexible. We have a particular need for math tutors.
If you can donate some time to helping a child, please contact Alicia Roda at alicia.roda@fsw.org.
