Project Rise (pRISE)

Project RISE (Respond, Invest, Sustain and Empower) is a New York State initiative, administered by the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), that aims to prevent gun violence and increase opportunities for youth and families in communities disproportionately affected by violence. pRISE also aims to reduce trauma responses that manifest in violence by:

  • Enhancing access to community mental health supports to help young people grow into healthy adulthood by fostering mental wellness and youth empowerment.
  • Engaging non-traditional methods through offering credible messengers, circle practice and healing through expressive art that create safe spaces for youth to process their daily struggles.

Who is eligible?​

Young people, 8 years old and older, who live in the Mount Vernon school district.
