RideConnect of Westchester

Who is RideConnect?

FSW’s RideConnect program provides opportunities that encourage independence and mobility for those 60+ in Westchester and Southern Putnam counties. Volunteers donate time and use of their cars to provide free rides for seniors to do shopping, medical, social, and other errands.

Providing grocery & medical deliveries during COVID

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, our seniors have never felt so scared or isolated. Their outlet to the world was cut off, and so we pivoted to bring the world to them: our volunteers now bring the groceries and necessities they need to them so they may remain safely in their homes until the virus passes.

In this time of crisis, if you need help accessing groceries or medication, let our volunteers shop for you. Call us at 914-242-7433 and we’ll find a volunteer to match you with.

Lives changed: Success stories

There’s no end to the stories and testimonials we get from both our seniors and our volunteers on how this program has impacted them. Some of our favorites include:

Nourish Our Seniors Matching Challenge Campaign

Donate today and your gift will be doubled! During this time of pandemic, our seniors can no longer shop for their own food. But they definitely still need groceries. And for too many, the financial implications of this crisis have impacted them.

So that no senior goes hungry in these challenging times, we’ve been issued a matching challenge to raise $8,000. And when we do, United Way of Westchester/Putnam and the Field Hall Foundation will match your gifts to the Nourish Our Seniors campaign by donating $8,000 in gift certificates for senior food needs. Donate today!

Providing Rides to Seniors Since 2010

If you are a senior over 60+ in Westchester and Southern Putnam County and you need a ride somewhere, we’ve got you covered. You may choose to ride anywhere: the hairdresser, shopping, cultural events, employment, medical appointments, the movies, religious gatherings – wherever you’d like to go.

Call us at 914-242-7433 and one of our transportation counselors will find a volunteer driver best matched to suit your transportation needs.

Running on Volunteer Power!

Across Westchester and southern Putnam counties, a caring fleet of hundreds of volunteers donate their time and use of their cars to provide rides, completely free of charge, for thousands of seniors to do their shopping, medical, social, and other errands.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work. They hail from all walks of life: young mothers, retirees, full time workers with a weekend hour to spare, and everything in between. We welcome you to join this esteemed RideConnect driving team!

The RideConnect Story

Our story began in 2010 with the concept of providing a one-stop-shop for older adults to obtain information on transportation options.

In 2012, we realized just what a basic human need transportation is, especially in spread-out areas like Westchester and southern Putnam counties. Our older residents need to travel to work, shopping, medical appointments, and simply to stay connected.

And so later that year, our volunteer driving program was launched, which has since become the heart and soul of RideConnect. Today RideConnect provides the vital link that helps keep thousands older adults throughout Westchester and southern Putnam stay healthy, active, and connected to their communities.
