Veterans Outreach and Support
FSW’s Veterans Outreach and Support Project was established in January 2012 to meet the needs of returning veterans and their families. Since then, we have expanded our services to veterans and families from all eras without restrictions to service dates, discharge or dependency status. Family Services of Westchester understands challenges that may arise during military service and community reintegration and offers individualized strategies to address the unique issues encountered by military veterans.
The Veterans Outreach Program has linked our veterans to resources that promote advancement, independence and re-acclimation to their communities. We assist veterans with services related to health, housing, education, career advancement and benefit claims.
Vet2Vet
Vet2Vet is led by veterans and is for veterans in Westchester County and the surrounding area. Vet2Vet has no affiliation with the VA system or the Federal Government. Participation in our veteran event and peer networking programs is free, anonymous and confidential.
Under the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program, FSW Vet2Vet brings military veterans and their families together through Veteran-to-Veteran collaborative events, social activities, and community service, easing the transition from military to civilian life. The program also provides ongoing peer mentorship to Westchester County veterans so they can gain and maintain social connections and services that contribute to their well-being.
Vet2Vet Peer Mentoring
Vet2Vet Peers are military veterans who can personally relate to challenges faced by the veteran community. Their goal is to support veterans who can benefit from personal, one-on-one guidance and support. Regular social interaction and assistance with life needs can be extremely beneficial and our Peers strive to give every advantage to the veterans they partner with.
